Throwback WEEK.

Do you remember when facebook (and myspace) had people doing the 25 things Challenge? It's odd that I can find NO online mention of my anxiety for leaving for college (although there are probably some heart wrenching emails) but I did find some other fun stuff that is worth enjoying the walk through memory lane. Some of it was boring, so I cut it out. This would have been the summer before my senior year of high school:

1. I'm intimidated by kittens. I've never been responsible for one (I have never actually held one) and they just seem really fragile in comparison to puppies.

• I've held one, still don't see the fuss. Kittens are breakable. Points to young Paige. 

2. I have gone through 4 digital cameras in the last 4 years. I sold one to my brother, I gave one to alec, I threw one away, and I bought myself a new one this summer. I have bad luck.

• I think I only had two more after this-- I'm pretty sure Stanley is the one I mentioned buying though, and he's still kicking. 

3.When I grow up, I'm going to live off the paleo diet.

• Still true. Food is hard. 

4. I'm awful at buying clothes. Other than jeans, I can't make an outfit work. I just throw stuff together. I have this weird idea that moving to a big city will solve this, but I'll probably always be a fashion failure.

• I joined a sorority and made friends with fashionistas. I'm lazy now, but not ignorant. 

5. I'm completely fascinated by baby food. I think it's awesome, how a whole meal can fit in a little jar. and that they have so many varieties.

• Still true. I just want to feed all babies everywhere. 

6. I have never in my life been on a boat. [insert pop culture reference] This excludes paddle boats and fairies (which are mostly just big paddle boats).

• Aha! I have since been on a boat, multiple times. I can even wakeboard. 

7.I think food is disgusting. There are probably only 3 or 4 meals that don't gross me out.

• Friends, are you laughing now? I didn't make this up. 

8. I want to own a bakery when I grow up. go figure. I love to cook.

• Hahahahahaha. I'm over that. Cooking makes everything hot, and I get bored too quickly. 

9.I took piano for 10 years, but only really liked it for 2.

• I miss piano, so I have break up goggles over this. 

10. When I was younger, I was awful at naming things (moosey, fishy, kitty...) so now to make up for it I have ridiculous names for my pets. Like Walden Chandler, shakespeare amadeus, and Ricecake Eloise. If Godzilla was more mine than alecs, I would have given him the middle name Albadore.

• My rats names were Moose and Elk, and my roommate let me name our fish Gertruida. Still true. Also, Ricecake Eloise is a boss ass name. 

11. I spend more money on my skin than any other part of my body. body gel, lotion, perfume, makeup, nail polish- none of it comes close to the amount of face wash I've tried.

• And yet, I still look like I'm in highschool. Sorry to disappoint you, younger Paige. 

12. I'm self concious of people thinking I'm an attention whore, so I only play piano with headphones plugge in.

• Still true, although it extends way beyond my piano playing. 

13. When I grow up, I would be perfectly content to become my Grammy.

• duh.

14. Alec's house is like a vacation for me. My house is always very high energy and tense, where as his is very chill. Also, my hamsters live there, as does Scooter, who is quite possibly the most epic cat in the world.

• That relationship, those hamsters, and the cat are all dead, and yet I still don't disagree with this statement. I love me some sturtz family. 

15. More than anything in the world, I hate the minivan. Not because it looks dorky. Never in my life have I been concerned with that. But because it is so big and unbalanced that a short clumsy girl has no place in it. Everytime I get in that car, I feel out of control and uncomfortable. This is why i don't have my license.

• WHAT ARE YOU EVEN SAYING BABY PAIGE? That mini-van rocked. The only thing good that came out of losing it was that we got Jarvis in the process. 

16. I have a dorky rockstar crush on Max Bemis. He's not even pretty; I'm just a sucker for tortured guys that can play guitar.

• Well, good. Some things never change. 

17. I've always wanted to be a bartender. I think it would be trendy.

• Girl, you so trendy. You also came home smelling like beer every night. So less trendy in that regard.

TBT: Beginning of Freshman Year

First Big Senior Moment: Going Alum Status

This weekend was ZTA's senior celebration, and I officially transitioned from collegiate member to alumna. We have a bunch of different charms that signify different achievements (for example, I have a pearl dangle for being on dean's list) and I am currently wearing my anchor charm (which means I'm an alum). Weird. I also got to do the mother's pinning ceremony, which basically is a zeta-mom initiation.


 In the spirit of my four years in the turquoise and silver, I wanted to include my creed. Sometimes sisterhood is hard, and sometimes the politics and leadership positions get frustrating, but it all comes down to a bunch of women who follow these values. Everyone has their favorite lines, and I bolded mine.

To realize that within our grasp, in Zeta Tau Alpha, lies the opportunity to learn those things which will ever enrich and ennoble our lives; to be true to ourselves, to those within and without our circle; to think in terms of all mankind and our service in the world; to be steadfast, strong, and clean of heart and mind, remembering that since the thought is father to the deed, only that which we would have manifested in our experience should be entertained in thought; to find satisfaction in being, rather than seeming, thus strengthening in us the higher qualities of the spirit; to prepare for service and learn the nobility of serving, thereby earning the right to be served; to seek understanding that we might gain true wisdom; to look for the good in everyone; to see beauty, with its enriching influence; to be humble in success, and without bitterness in defeat; to have the welfare and harmony of the Fraternity at heart, striving ever to make our lives a symphony of high ideals, devotion to the Right, the Good, and the True, without a discordant note; remembering always that the foundation precept of Zeta Tau Alpha was Love, “the greatest of all things.”

I believe this chapter made me a better person.

Murder Ballad

This weekend, BW put on it's spring co-op program with Playhouse Square (I don't know what it's officially called, but something like that). The actors are all from BW, the arts management students do all the business stuff, and it's one big conglomeration of Baldwin Wallace working with our theater district.

Murder Ballad is immersive theater, which I had never heard of before (it's also the first time it had come to Cleveland). The stage was set as a bar but the audience members sat at tables in the bar rather than in a traditional theater setting (although there were seats available that were not immersive). The four cast members would run through audience and so depending where you sat, you could get a different experience just based on which character's face you saw. During the show the actors would be texting each other (as their characters) and would throw their phone on the table, and you could pick up their phone and look at the texts or see that one was calling another. It was very cool. The bar tender at one point made a drink and gave it to one audience member in the bar...you get it.

I absolutely LOVED it. The story was basic (love triangle shenanigans) but it was edgy in the right ways without getting too ridiculous. It ended campy, which I always prefer over pretentious, and it was really short-- only 75 minutes (it's a rock ballad, so you can listen to the whole show on spotify if you want to experience a third of what I did).

I believe in taking advantage of cool opportunities.

TBT: Paige and Burt are grownups now.

Burt's been my neighbor my whole life, and since I can't remember a time that he wasn't also my best friend and (slightly older) brother, let's just say that happened at birth too. 

There are multiple recreations of this picture, but I couldn't find them anywhere. I know we did it for NHS inductions. 

Most of my high school pictures were lost, but at least we have these keepers from middle school.

And just like that, it's the end of senior year! There's a much better picture of all of us as MCs, but I think Momma Hines has it.

Burt drove me to school every morning (usually late). This is him taking us to our last FHS event (late, of course), but again, Momma Hines has the only one of us actually together.

Learning Dutch

I finally bought my ticket to Amsterdam! In honor of the occasion, here is a Dutch lesson for all of you.

I believe I can eventually learn another language all on my own.
